Recording artist and children's entertainer from Regina, Saskatchewan.
Sharon is the passionate force behind Mz. Muzik. With her rich background as an educator and pianist, she brings a unique approach to music entertainment for young children.
Sharon Gudereit (aka Mz. Muzik) is an educator, pianist, recording artist and proud mother from Regina, Saskatchewan. Sharon has always loved making music with young children and has worked for many years as a Kindergarten, K-8 Arts Education teacher, piano teacher, and choir director. Sharon has been awarded the Queen’s Platinum Medal and has also been nominated for a Saskatchewan Arts Award for outstanding work in children’s music education.
She began her solo recording career in 2010 making adult contemporary music, and later writing and recording children’s music. Her first children’s single about Saskatchewan’s own “Scotty,” the world’s largest T-Rex, was a semi-finalist in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition in 2023. She has worked closely with the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in the promotion of this song and in the making of a music video, which was made with support by the RSM and Friends of the RSM. She launched the video at a large event held for Scotty’s “Unearthed Day.” In November of 2024, Sharon released her first full-length children’s album, “Growls & Giggles” under the artist name “Mz. Muzik.” A second song from that album, "Animal Train," was also chosen as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for 2024.
Sharon is also an author, penning an award-winning children’s picture book based on a song about her mother, called “I Know A Woman.” The book received a Gold Medal from the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Sharon has also made a children’s video series with Chat Productions called “The Mz. Muzik Show” which features puppets and guests, and teaches students musical concepts as well as reading, math and art skills.
In her long career as a recording artist for adults, Sharon released three full albums plus several singles and music videos. All of Sharon’s songs and videos have been recorded and produced by talented producer Jared Robinson of Nebulus Entertainment in Moose Jaw.
Highlights of her adult solo career include playing the piano for Royalty, performing as the opening act at the Regina International Film Festival, showcasing her songs in a concert at the MacKenzie Art Gallery, and having her original songs featured on radio stations across Saskatchewan. She is a regular volunteer pianist at the Government House Victorian Teas. Sharon also sings with the local jazz choir “Reunion” who are active in the community entertaining in parades, at care homes, and local events. Around town, you may catch Sharon performing at a children’s festival, singing on a float in a parade, or playing the piano at special events.
